Diving in to celebrate on this Wednesday; Whitlee is up for blog post of the week!
"One of my fondest memories: It is hard to choose just one, Whitlee is our only girl, she has two older brothers so the day that her dad and I found out we were having a girl, we were over the moon- but if I have to choose just one it would be our trip to Kansas City for her 4th Birthday to see an Off-Broadway production of Wicked, it was her first time flying she rolled through the airport with her little suitcase rolling behind her with such confidence (Like we should be following her ) That's when I knew our little girls was fearless, courageous and brave. The weekend was perfect and she loved the play and talked nonstop about Elphaba for months after. That trip started her love of travel and theatre -Those who were not familiar with the play thought it was quite odd that Whitlee loved a witch and carried around the Grimmerie everywhere she went but I knew she loved "Elphie" because she was intelligent, brave and smart." Whitlee's mom, Mandy, recounts her fondest memory.
Whitlee shared her best memory from school, "My fondest high school memory will always be when my friends and I would get together and plan outfits before every pep rally. The whole day at school we would be making signs and making last-minute trips to Walmart to ensure that the seniors would win the spirit stick. Although it didn’t always work, I made some fantastic memories with my peers."
I love to ask moms what what makes them proud of their senior and here is what Mandy told me. "Whitlee has goals and she takes steps to reach those goals on her own without anyone having to tell her to, she is very determined, for example; Whitlee joined Theatre her Freshmen year and gained confidence throughout the year and by her sophomore year she got the Lead role as "Alice" in the school production of Alice in Wonderland, she practiced and perfected her lines daily, I went to all three showings and SHE KILLED IT EVERY TIME. This is an excerpt of the review from Broadway world Arkansas "Patterson embodied the Alice persona; she exuded innocence in her voice and demeanor."
"I plan on attending the University of Arkansas this fall, and I’ll be majoring in advertising and public relations. I’m looking forward to my future career in public relations and I hope to have a positive impact through my career." Whitlee reported as her college plans.
Mandy said she's sad that she won't be seeing her everyday and having nightly talks before bed and nervous if she be able to cope with being on her own so many miles away, but most of all excited that she is starting on her own great adventure "I hope for happiness and health for love and well-being; I hope life is fair to her and that she is surrounded with people who see her worth just as I do. Friends that cherish her and a career that inspires her to be the best she can be."
I asked Whitlee what she would do right now with $100K to spend, and she said travel abroad!
Whitlee has been a pleasure to work with this year and have on my sorority team. I wish her all the joys!
